 Information Technology (I.T.) Minimize

At Amsleigh Park we provide an environment where Information Technologies are an integral part of teaching and learning at our school.

We have an Information Technology Laboratory, which consists of 22 networked computers whilst the classrooms each have another four or five networked computers. Our computer laboratory also has a motorised screen, DVD player, fixed data projector and audio equipment. We completed installing Interactive Whiteboards in every classroom and our staff and students are enjoying the learning oppportunties that this technology allows.

All children have their own Email address and Internat account. Every computer in the school is connected to the Internet. Students are required to sign an Internet Contract to ensure safe use of this facility.

All students visit the Computer Laboratory each week as part of our specialist program and also with their classroom teacher. We are currently investigating how to incorporate robotics into the ICT program and have purchased Microbrics robotics for grade 5 & 6 students to begin experimenting with in 2010.

 Religious Instruction Minimize

Religious Education is offered at Amsleigh Park Primary School for families who wish their children to attend.
The Victorian Education Act and Regulations make provision for children to receive religious education as a normal part of their schooling.
Religious Education builds on Studies of Society, Environment and Health and Physical Education within the Curriculum and Standards Framework.
The programs offered are as follows:
The Agreed Syllabus "Religion For Life®"
This was developed and is regularly reviewed by The Council of Christian Education In Schools. The Agreed Syllabus is delivered by instructors drawn from the Anglican, Catholic, Protestant and Pentecostal Churches, who are trained and accredited by the Council for Christian Education in Schools and approved by the Minister for Education.

A Roman Catholic Syllabus
Roman Catholic education is provided each week subject to trained teachers being available. All teachers are certified by the Catholic Education Office. Thus ensuring that the teachers have the appropriate training and character. Class time allotted is 30 minutes per week.

A Greek Orthodox Syllabus
This program is undertaken in the Greek language by a qualified Geek Religious Education teacher.

Attendance at Religious Education is not compulsory for students whose parents request that they be excused from attending.

In addition to the classroom music we offer Choir, Dance and Drama Group, Recorders and private tuition in piano and guitar.

Whole School Production
Each year we produce a whole school production in which every student has either a singing, dancing or dramatic part. In 2009 our production was "Not Another Night At The Oscars" which was written by one of our staff members. The 2010 production is yet to be announced.

Family Carols Evening
In 2004, we introduced a Carols night which involved all the students performing Christmas Carols and leading the community in further singing.
All classes took part in items as well as our School Choirs.
The evening was such a success that we have continued to have Family Carols Evening each year.

Choir
In 2009 we will have a choir made up of students in Grades 3, 4 ,5 and 6.
As for previous years, the choir will perform on Education Evening, at Oakleigh Central during Education Week and as part of their Christmas entertainment, at Aged people's Homes during December and on Family Carols Evening. We are very proud of our choir's performance in the 2008 State Schools Spectacular. At Amsleigh Park we have a very well-equipped Art Room with an enthusiastic and talented Art Teacher. As well as learning the conventions of visual art, the students are encouraged to be creative in the many different media they experience working with. Student art work can be seen displayed in all areas of the school as well as in the Art Room.

In 2004, we held an Art Show to showcase the excellent and creative art work that the students had completed throughout the year.
The Art Show was opened by the Mayor of Monash Cr. Joy Banerji and was a real celebration of our student's talents.
